The Suffolk County Police Department Marine Bureau, tasked with patrolling the extensive waterways of Long Island, has commemorated its specialized role through the issuance of a distinctive challenge coin. This coin honors the memory of Sgt. Dave Cherkes, a dedicated member of the Marine Bureau, and serves as a symbol of the unit’s commitment to safeguarding the maritime community.
