The Irish Cavalry Corps challenge coin honors the storied legacy and modern capabilities of one of the Irish Defence Forces’ most distinguished combat support units. Established in 1922 as the Armoured Car Corps, the unit was mechanized from its inception, utilizing surplus British vehicles following the War of Independence. In 1934, it was renamed the Cavalry Corps to reflect its evolving role and expanded mission set.
