The Collins Barracks Cork challenge coin is a distinguished emblem that honors the rich military heritage and enduring legacy of one of Ireland’s most historic military sites. Established in 1801 and originally known as Victoria Barracks, it served as a British military stronghold before becoming a pivotal site for the Irish Defence Forces following the War of Independence. Today, it houses the 1st Southern Brigade and stands as a testament to Ireland’s military history. The barracks is also home to the Collins Barracks Museum, which showcases artifacts related to General Michael Collins, a key figure in Ireland’s fight for independence.
