The NYPD Special Operations Division (SOD) challenge coin is a distinctive symbol that honors the elite officers assigned to handle complex, high-risk situations requiring specialized skills and training. The SOD is responsible for a variety of critical functions, including counter-terrorism operations, tactical responses to armed standoffs, and managing emergency response teams during major public events or crises.
