The Rockaways’ Playland challenge coin is a nostalgic tribute to one of New York City’s most cherished seaside amusement parks. Operating from 1902 until its closure in 1987, Rockaways’ Playland was a vibrant hub of entertainment in Rockaway Beach, Queens, drawing millions with its roller coasters, arcades, and boardwalk attractions. While specific challenge coins commemorating the park are not widely documented, vintage gaming tokens from the era—crafted in silver or gold-colored aluminum—serve as tangible mementos of the park’s lively atmosphere.
